A logo, website, guidelines and advertising campaign expressing the personality of a brand.

About the Project

A team of teachers living in North Yorkshire but teaching online to students all over Europe wanted to group together and market themselves from one platform.

With this in mind, they came to Brand Expression to create a brand.

The Solution

The first thing we did was to find out what makes them unique. With this team it was all about the personalities of the teachers. So, the key here for us was to build a brand platform that immediately brought across the location of the teachers and their welcoming personalities.

We then created a list of names for the company and judged this list against the criteria we had created. The final name, approved by the teachers, was Harrogate Learning.

We created a logo which worked as two versions — large and small (for mobile). The typeface is our own creation, because we wanted to make a reassuring serif font out of a friendly looking sans serif.

Our next task was to create the website, which we kept simple, because the teachers would be too busy teaching to update it – plus, they didn’t want the responsibility of maintaining it. So, we used HTML and CSS, along with the Bootstrap framework, creating a static site that is clear, easy to navigate and responsive.

We also created an advertising campaign based on the personality of the brand. This campaign consists of a series of three advertisements which bring across the benefits of learning English as a second language. These posters have been used online and as posters at schools and offices. They were recently featured by a prominent advertising website which showcases the best advertising work in the world.
