Creating a modern website to showcase high quality work and case studies

Established in 2009, SDC Fire and Security provide fire alarms and security systems for the detection of fire and and other home security threats.

They have gone from strength to strength, now specializing in projects from simple small commercial intruder alarm systems, all the way to campus-wide CCTV systems with multiple integrations, which have been used in various sectors, including the pharmaceutical sector.

SDC required a sleek website for their ever-growing business, showcasing their services and allowing customers to view their services. We built the site on the WordPress content management system, giving admins the ability to add and edit content, case studies and services.

The Challenge

SDC did not have a website, meaning they were missing out on reaching their potential target audience. They needed a website that allowed them to reach customers and showcase their services and work.

Once they had a website, they then required access to the site’s backend to add content – such as blog posts and case studies – which would allow them to grow their website over time.

The Solution

The aim while designing the website was to ensure that it delivered information to potential customers, showing clear CTAs to encourage them to act. Our proposal also included:

  • a website built on the content management system WordPress to allow admins to easily add and change content
  • a case studies/portfolio section to showcase real life solutions
  • strong calls-to-action, including a contact form widget available on all pages to help direct enquiries.

Look and Feel

After analyzing the existing logo and branding, we decided to incorporate the circle motif throughout the website to ensure consistency within the brand. Site visitors can see circle shapes used with all of the site’s images, plus rounded corner buttons. Circles were also used to help create separation between sections and even on text underlines and hover effects.

In terms of color, we identified that for impact the site would benefit from a minimal color palette in keeping with the red and black shades seen in the logo, with the introduction of pops of LED yellow to draw users’ attention to the main CTAs. A neutral beige shade was selected to add warmth and provide some variation in the backgrounds.

Technical Details

Web Development

Using WordPress, we built a completely custom theme implementing the design we produced for both mobile and desktop resolutions. We also built custom WordPress blocks to make generating beautifully structured pages an easy task going forward.

On the home page, we featured a large ‘hero’ intro featuring an SVG animated logo and images, along with three slides to showcase SDC’s key offerings. Users can click the slide arrows (or swipe on the mobile version) to see an overview of each service and click through to view more.

We also focused on showcasing case studies, both on the home page and on a top-level page of its own. This allows prospective customers to click through and view real life scenarios and solutions that SDC have delivered.

SDC have a leading reputation in their industry, and therefore we decided to showcase their partner logos and accreditations, allowing them to build trust with customers and increase their brand visibility.

Key Features

Testimonials

We also added testimonials throughout the site to again build trust and showcase real stories and opinions from customers and their experiences of working with SDC.

Sliders

We used sliders throughout the website – to slide across galleries, services and case studies. This allowed us to spotlight one item at a time for users to read and view images. These types of elements make the website appear modern, professional and contemporary while also including an element of interaction.

Support and Maintenance

SDC Fire & Security have taken advantage of our Service Level Agreement, which gives them access to our expert support and troubleshooting within guaranteed timeframes. This also means we’ll monitor the site and perform updates to the core WordPress installation and any plugins used to ensure the site is always safe and secure.
